LAC-DES-SEIZE-ILES – A landslide has damaged two cottages and four boathouses, pushing them into a lake just after midday on Tuesday.
At 12:20 p.m., officials from the Surete du Quebec were alerted to the incident in Lac-des-Seize-Îles, a small town around 100 kilometers northwest of Montreal.
Constable Gino Paré said the six buildings that were destroyed were actually summer cottages so officials do not suspect that anyone was hurt.
Another landslide was reported just two hours earlier around 20 kilometres away in Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, sending mud onto the roads.
This part of the Laurentides is not generally known for landslides.
Emergency officials are on the scene to inspect the damage.
