They’re coming to school in sagging pants, short shorts, even pajamas, and a school board member says it’s time to do something about it.
But Rosalind Osgood of the Broward County, Florida School Board isn’t talking about students. She’s worried about the parents who drop them off each morning, saying it makes it tough on those trying to uphold the student dress code.
“It’s hard for me to tell a child not to show up for school with hair curlers, pajamas or short shorts if they see parents wearing them,” Osgood said during a recent School Board discussion. “Parents need to lead by example.”
Osgood said it’s unlikely the school district could actually enforce a parent dress code, but she is hoping to have principals address the issue during parent nights.
