Work on new reserved bus lane to begin soon

Work crews will be back on the job along A20 in the very near future.

Construction to resume building a reserved lane for STM city buses is expected to begin this spring.

The $12 million project is slated to open in the fall and allow buses to travel on a dedicated express lane between Bouchard Ave. in Dorval to 10 Ave. in Lachine, in the eastbound direction only.

Tens of thousands of riders use the buses from the West Island to downtown everyday.

The 211 has been running between Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue and the Lionel Groulx metro for more than 30 years, but has never had a permanent bus lane to use.

Buses are frequently caught in daily traffic with thousands of other drivers.

Some wish the new lane would continue beyond Lachine and end closer to downtown.
