VANCOUVER – It looks like when you are lounging at the beach or taking a stroll in the park it will soon be even easier to upload a photo to Facebook or send a tweet.
The Vancouver Park Board has voted to work with the city to develop a strategy to implement free public WiFi in all of Vancouver’s beaches, parks and other spaces under the jurisdiction of the board.
In April 2013 the City of Vancouver approved their Digital Strategy to expand digital access throughout the city.
The Park Board has now asked for the general manager of the project and the Chief Digital Officer to report back to the board with a project outline that includes estimated costs and a timeline of implementation.
Beach-goers on Monday night were excited about the idea.
“That would be great, that would be awesome,” said one resident. “It’s a good thing.”
