REGINA – Saskatchewan residents will now be able to read personal care home inspection results online following changes to legislation which allows inspection information to be shared online.
“Online access to the most recent inspection results will help families select a personal care home,” Health Minister Dustin Duncan said. “It will also provide increased incentive for operators to provide the best care possible.”
Personal care homes in the province are owned and operated privately but are monitored by the Ministry of Health. Personal care home inspections look at numerous areas including resident care, care records, food served, recreational activities and health and safety.
The inspection results that are posted online indicate what standards were not met at the time of inspection and if the problem has been addressed.
The province currently has 243 personal care homes to monitor.
